5th Grade Picnic:

A year-end picnic for the outgoing 5th grade class to celebrate the hard work they did in elementary school.  It is a day full of games, moon bounces, food, ice cream treats and more at a local park. Kids receive a small gift (for example, t-shirt, cinch sak) to commemorate the day. Committee Heads – 5th Grade Home and School Parents


Back to School Bash:

This annual event is planned during the first few weeks of school to allow all families to connect in a casual environment.  A minimal cost per family is charged for pizza, dessert and drinks.  Committee Head –Kristen Pollack, Hillary Wexler and Wendy Milnes


Family Fun Nights:

Events throughout the year that are all about FUN for the entire family! 

Family Bingo Night – This activity takes place in early November.  Kids play Bingo and win small prizes while they enjoy time with their friends and family.  Snacks and water are provided as well. Committee Head – Jamie Lockwood

Hobby Night - Hobby Night takes place on a Friday night during January. Students are encouraged to bring in their collections or hobbies and share their interests with other students and parents. This event takes place in the cafeteria. Committee Head – Tara Turner 

Jumpin’ Jacks, Roller Skating and Other Night Events:  These events are held throughout the year.  They give students and their families the opportunity to have some fun family nights out.  Nominal fees for each activity to support to our Home and School budget.  Committee Heads – Brooke Rogers and Tia Schwab


Fundraising: 
This committee works on our fundraisers throughout the school year. The funds raised go towards various school programs such as playground or gym equipment, technology needs, field trips, teacher supplies, etc. in support of Oak Ridge Home & School’s mission statement.

Fun Run Event (next event anticipated for spring of 2019): This event is our major fundraising event for Home & School.  It is a running/walking event on a designated course held every 18 months to 2 years.  This event is a wonderful, fun event for the entire school.  Through the efforts of our students, teachers, staff and volunteers, we were able to raise over $30,000 the last time we held the event in the spring of 2017. Purse Bingo: A special night out for the Moms of Oak Ridge held at St. Maria Goretti which benefits our overall Home & School budget. Win a designer purse playing 10 rounds of Bingo or maybe you will be a lucky winner of one of the raffle baskets. We raised over $12,000 in 2018! Amazon Smiles Rewards Program – Oak Ridge earns cash through this Amazon Rewards Program.  Register with Amazon at www.amazon.com/ and select Oak Ridge as the school you.  Every shopping trip will earn cash for Oak Ridge!  Committee Head - Heidi Derstine

Diner’s Club: NEW
Diner’s Club is a combination of selling Wawa hoagie certificates as well as finding restaurants (Chick Fil-A, Energy Station) to partner with for a family night out to support Oak Ridge Fundraising efforts. Committee Heads – Jamie Ford and Tammie Golla

General Mills Box Tops – Oak Ridge collects the Box Top labels from General Mills products. The money raised from the Box Tops are used to purchase playground equipment, additional gym equipment and more!  Committee Head – Sarah Drumm

Giant Food Stores A+ School Rewards Program – Oak Ridge earns cash through the Giant Rewards Program.  Register your bonus card at www.giantfoodstores.com/aplus and select Oak Ridge as the school you support (ID#04084).  Every shopping trip will earn cash for Oak Ridge!  Committee Head – Heidi Derstine

KidStuff Books - Our KidStuff Fundraiser is run during the first few weeks of school. KidStuff coupon books are full of great discount coupons for hundreds of places to shop, eat and play. Oak Ridge earns 50% profit on every book sold and you save money at countless retailers. Throughout the 16 months that most KidStuff coupons are valid, families quickly save more that the cost of the book!  Committee Head – Heidi Geist and Kandece Henning

Yankee Candles - Our Yankee Candle Fundraiser helps Oak Ridge Home & School Association fund and support several special programs such as Lip Sync, Just Say No!, Library Donations and more. Committee Head – Wendy Milnes and Tara Turner


Garden Club: 
This committee is responsible for the maintenance of the front gardens – weeding, planting and maintenance.  This club usually meets twice a year – in late summer before school begins and early spring before Open House.  Committee Heads – Wendy Milnes and Kristen Pollack


Hands Across Oak Ridge:
This committee helps to organize volunteering opportunities such as general classroom help, library help, book fair, field day and more!  Committee Heads – Ashley Misir and Emily Vincent


Holiday Shoppe:
During a week in early December each class visits the Holiday Shoppe.  With the help of our volunteers, every student has the opportunity to shop for inexpensive gifts for their family members.  Committee Heads – Gabrielle Gilbert and Michelle Smith 


Home and School Communications:
Our Communications committee provides Home & School information to parents via The Oak Ridge Home and School Web site as well as a monthly “News from the Nutshell” e-mail. Keep up to date on the latest happenings in the school!  Committee Heads – Monique Asmann 


Homeroom Parents:
Oak Ridge Home & School Association organizes and coordinates this group of volunteers.  If you volunteer to become a homeroom parent, you will be asked to help a group of parents plan and run one of the holiday parties for your child’s classroom.  There are three parties held during the school year – Halloween Social, Winter Social, and Valentine’s Day Social.  An initial meeting is held in late September for all parents who volunteer. Hospitality:
This committee's main event is organizing the faculty luncheon at the end of the year. The committee also coordinates refreshments for various school activities held by Home and School.  Committee Head – Kelly Paturzo 


Ice Cream Sundae Bar:
This special dessert is held four (4) times per year after lunch in the cafeteria.  Check your lunch menu for the dates.  Volunteers serve your child ice cream with all the toppings!  The sundae is free with lunch purchase or $1.65 if purchased separately. Let’s Move:
Let’s Move is a committee dedicated to identifying and including healthy food options and snacks at our school events. One of the major activities of this committee is our recess time Jump Rope Club. Committee Heads – Melanie Roberts and Natalie Weaver  


Lip Sync:
Lip Sync is one of our most popular nights which takes place in February. The kids get to perform songs in a group in the SAHS auditorium for the entire school community, while never having to utter a word!  The children choose their own songs, rehearse and perform for 90 seconds of fun!  DVD copies are available after the event for a small fee which helps provide scholarships to Souderton High School AV students.  Committee Heads – OPEN POSITION 


Oak Ridge Goes Green:
Our goal is to educate our children on the importance of recycling and energy conservation to save our environment.  It is a wonderful opportunity to teach the children the importance of caring for the earth and our school community.  Committee Head – Sarah Drumm


Oak Ridge Outreach/After School REC:
Provides activities and services to support the Oak Ridge community as well as helps to raise the children’s awareness of how we can help those in need. Some fun is also thrown in! 

After School REC - Throughout the school year, we organize and sponsor activities that are grade appropriate. They can include sports, crafts, science or games. Additionally, we work on service projects which support our local fire, police and EMT services by providing them with care packages.  Committee Head – OPEN POSITION

Oak Ridge Cares - Oak Ridge Cares was formed in order to better help those in need within the Oak Ridge community.  A group of volunteers organize and oversee the distribution of donated and purchased items for charity as well as raising the community’s awareness of those needs.  Committee Head – Maria Malone

Oakie’s Hearts of Courage - This committee, formed in the late 1990's, is in place to assist Oak Ridge families coping with life threatening illnesses and/or life tragedies. Fundraisers include: winter plant sale, clothing drive, on-going Oak Ridge Hometown Collectible sale and students can participate in a yearly Painting With A Twist fundraiser. This club has provided funds for various needs for families and we also have been able to send several children to Camp Rainbow. Committee Heads – Jill Christopher 


Spanish Club:   
This is a SACE (Souderton Area Community Education) run program, held at Oak Ridge from October to May. 8-12 students will meet with an instructor one day a week throughout the school year (24 weeks) for an annual fee of $180 -$200/year, per student.  Day and Time to be announced.  Committee Head – Amanda Lorenc


Spirit Wear Sale:
We sell t-shirts, hoodies, sweats, umbrellas, water bottles, Oakies and more with our Oak Ridge logo on them.  These items are offered for sale, at cost, to all families twice a year typically in the early fall and late spring. Committee Head – Jacqui Buscarini


Student Directory:
In the fall, every family will receive a school directory from the Oak Ridge Home & School.  This directory is a great way to keep in touch with classmates as well as a great source of useful information.  The directory information is captured via Google Docs so look for an email with the link every September!  Committee Head – Mary Eckert and Emily Vincent


Team Oak Ridge:   
This committee was formed to help our new students and their families feel welcome and help them to become involved with our school.  The committee also provides t-shirts for kindergarteners in the beginning of each school year. Committee Head – Kristen Pollack, Hillary Wexler and Wendy Milnes


Where in the World is Oakie the Owl?:
Students buy our Oakie the Owl mascot to take with them on their vacations.  They take pictures with Oakie during their vacations and then bring the pictures into school so they can be posted in our Oakie display for other students to see. Oakie is available to buy during our fall and spring spirit sales. Committee Head – Tara Turner  


Yearbook:
Our Yearbook Committee chronicles the events and activities of the year through candid pictures and student portraits.  This is a great keepsake for your child to remember their elementary school years.  Order forms are sent home in the Spring and yearbooks are received at the end of the school year.
