Updates and Reminders, August 25

It is hard to believe that we are closing out the final week before school begins. This past week the teachers returned and we had two really good days of preparation and discussion. We spent time reviewing data, the surveys you and your child took in the spring and planning for the areas where we can grow. During the discussions it was clear to me just how excited everyone was to get started and have the children fill our hallways. We are ready to begin another great year at Oak Ridge.

As a parent of three children in the district, I understand how hectic the start of the school year can be. Here are a few friendly reminders to help you keep the next few weeks in order:

  • Tuesday, August 29th is the first day for 1st-5th graders. Kindergarten will have an orientation day that the parents bring them in for.
  • Wednesday, August 30th is Kindergarten’s first full day.
  • Thursday, August 31st is our Back to School Night from 6:30-8:00p.m.
  • There is no School on Friday, September 1st or Monday, September 4th for the Labor Day Holiday.
  • Thursday, September 7th is Picture Day. You can log onto Lifetouch early at portal.lifetouch.com with our Picture Day code JL727703Q0 if you wish to order pictures.

Please don’t forget (like I almost did) to complete and turn in the Back to School 2017-2018 Information Review. Please complete and return the Back-to-School 2017-2018 Information Review. The review includes required policy and procedure agreements as well as important weather-related and health information. Completed forms should be returned to your child’s school no later than Thursday, August 31st, 2017.

Hopefully these reminders will help as you prepare for the first two weeks of school and returning to the 'school' routine. Once again, we are very excited to get started and wish you and your children a great start to the school year.

Enjoy the "last weekend" of Summer Break!
