Updates and Reminders, January 24th

Here are some updates and reminders for the next week:

We are excited to have our first Owl Time next Tuesday.  Owl Time is our new assembly model in place of Countdowns.  Our goal was to create a celebration that puts the gathering in the kids hands.  We started with our Student Government and some randomly selected 4th graders who will lead our last few assemblies for the year.  We are looking forward to seeing how this new model grows into something that the kids will be proud of participating in and contributing to.  Keep your eyes on @SASD_OakRidge on Twitter for pictures and videos from our first gathering.  Students will be encouraged to wear green for our first Owl Time!

Also, check out our home page for updated episodes of News From The Nest.  Currently, you can see our Veterans Day Assembly on the Oak Ridge home page by clicking on the main picture.  This week’s episode and the episodes since October can be found in the menu under the main videos (or through this link… http://oakridge.soudertonsd.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=94927&pageId=11462756).

Reminder, next Wednesday, January 29th, is an In-Service day.  There is no school for students on Wednesday.

Thank you to Mrs. Buck and Mrs. Bilotti for finding this amazing opportunity for our school.  You can help Oak Ridge win a free visit by author/illustrator Jan Brett! Now through April 20th, every parent, teacher, and supporter of Oak Ridge who fills out the entry form adds another vote and gets us closer to winning. The form can be found at https://www.janbrett.com/contest_2020/2020_free_school_or_library_visit.htm.  Thank you kindly for your support!

And another reminder that due to the snow day from earlier in the year, we will have school on February 14th.  We also moved our Valentine’s Socials to that day.

Thanks for your continued support!
