After School REC:
Throughout the year, we organize and sponsor activities that are aged appropriate. They could include sports, crafts, sign language, hand bells, science and games. Volunteers and teachers lead these activities which are scheduled between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Notices are sent home with your child to register for these activities. The school calendar will be a reminder for those scheduled programs.

Campbell Labels for Education:
We collect Campbell's Labels for Education year round, earning points that we redeem for fun playground supplies. There is a "soup can"- shaped bin in the Lobby where labels can be deposited any time. We need the portion of the label that includes the UPC and the "Labels for Education" logo. If you're pressed for time, just send in the entire label and our volunteers will trim and count them for you!

D.A.R.E.:
With our funding, the local police teach a sixteen week drug and alcohol awareness program to our fourth graders. This is the called the DARE Program (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education). We sponsor the teacher-led Just Say No Club, after school, for third, fourth and fifth graders. Students are encouraged to choose healthy activities over drugs and alcohol.

Family Night:
Our families are invited to a night of entertainment in the fall and sometimes late winter. We have had a variety of activities ranging from a storyteller, snow tubing, to a night of bingo.

Fun Run:
This event takes place in May and is a wonderful event for the whole family. Activities include a one mile fun run/walk and carnival. It has become our major fundraising event, temporarily replacing all other fundraising events. With the efforts of our volunteers and students, we were able to raise $20,000 last year.

Gardening Committee:
The Gardening Committee is responsible for the maintenance of the butterfly and memorial gardens located between the pods at Oak Ridge. The committee decides upon the date(s) for the spring clean-up, purchasing of plant material, mulch, and submits requests for volunteers from the student body. Parents and children attend the clean-up and weed, plant, and mulch the gardens. This is a wonderful opportunity to teach the children the importance of caring for the earth and our school community.

General Mills Box Tops:
Clip the Box Top coupons from General Mills products, trim them (1" squares), and send into school with your child. Please list on a piece of paper their name(s) and classroom number(s), as well as number of box tops, in a zip lock bag. Only one bag is necessary per family for each submission. General Mills gives us $.10 per box top. Each year we have averaged 16,000 box tops from our families! That means $1,600 for our school!

The children who bring in the most box tops get rewarded with prized each fall and spring when we send in our box tops! The top 5 classrooms with the highest participation receive a free breakfast at the end of the year, compliments of General Mills. In the past, the General Mills funds have been designated to new benches for the playground and 20 new swing seats. Please keep up the wonderful contributions!

Hobby Night:
Hobby Night takes place on a Friday night during January or February. Students are encouraged to bring in their collections or hobbies and share their interests with other students and parents. The event takes place in the cafeteria.

Holiday Craft Fair:
This event takes place in November. Vendors set up their goods at tables, throughout the school, for students and parents to browse and shop. Activities include moon bounce, face paining, crafts and much more.

Holiday Shoppe:
Each child is invited to visit the Holiday Shoppe. This is run for one week during December. It is an opportunity for the children to shop, during school, for inexpensive gifts for their family members, with the help of our volunteers.

Homeroom Parent:
Oak Ridge Home & School Association organizes and coordinates this group of volunteers. If you volunteer to become a homeroom parent, you will be asked to help a group of parents plan and run the holiday parties for your child's classroom. There are three parties held during the school year - Halloween Social, Winter Social, and Valentine's Day Social. An initial meeting is held in October.

Hospitality:
This committee provides refreshments for most of the activities held throughout the year. At the end of the school year, the committee organizes a luncheon for the teachers.

Ice Cream Sundae Bar:
This special dessert is held four (4) times per year after lunch in the cafeteria. Check your lunch menu for the date each month. Volunteers serve your child ice cream with all the toppings! The sundae is free with lunch purchase or $.75 if purchased separately.

Lip Sync:
Lip Sync is one of our most popular nights. It takes place in February/March. The kids get to perform songs for the entire school community, while never having to utter a word! It takes place in the Indian Crest auditorium. The children choose their own songs; rehearse it alone or as a group act and perform for 90 seconds of fun! DVD copies are available after the event for a small fee which helps provide scholarships to Souderton High School AV students.

Market Day:
Our school participates in a fund raising food program called Market Day. Each month restaurant-quality food products will be available for purchase. Market Day products are competitively priced, 100% satisfaction guaranteed and our school will profit on your purchases.

Oak Ridge Cares:
Oak Ridge Cares was formed in order to better help those in need within the Oak Ridge community. A group of volunteers, organizing and overseeing the distribution of donated and purchased items for charity as well as raising the community's awareness of those needs.

School Directory:
In the fall, every family will receive a school directory from the Oak Ridge Home & School. This directory is a great way to keep in touch with classmates as well as a great source of useful information. Please fill out the school directory form when it comes home to have your family included. Be patient, the directory is produced by one volunteer and will be handed out later in the fall.

Spirit Wear Sale:
During the fall and spring, we sell t-shirts, hoodies, sweats, lunch packs, and more with our Oak Ridge logo. These items are offered for sale, at cost, to all families.

Team Oak Ridge:
This committee was formed to help our new students and their families feel welcome and involved with our school. One of the ways we do this is with the "buddy" program. Fourth grade students are paired with the Kindergarten students for various activities over the course of the school year.

The Nutshell:
Each month we publish a Newsletter entitled, "The Nutshell". This publication contains an up-to-date calendar and a listing of all the activities going on at Oak Ridge. These publications are sent home with your oldest child in the school the beginning of each month.

Yearbook:
Our Yearbook Committee gathers pictures of all school events throughout the year along with the school picture taken of each child in the school. This is a great keepsake for your child to remember their elementary school years. Order forms are sent out in the spring. Books are received at the end of the school year.
