Oak Ridge > Play Longer, Grow Stronger Grant Project
Oak Ridge received a grant called 'Play Longer, Grow Stronger' which enabled the school to purchase arcade games for the classroom and take several trips into the community. We used structured play activities to work on functional skills of daily living, including communication skills, academic skills and gross and fine motor skills. The children played with classmates and peers and are developing lifetime recreational and leisure skills, too. We had many opportunities to go into the community then and practice the skills we'd been learning at school. We went to Earl Bowl, Happy Tymes, and Camp Men-O-Lan. It's been a wonderful year full of learning and fun!
