I want to thank everyone for the support we had for our recess sledding adventures earlier in the week. I was so impressed with how well the kids handled sharing the sleds, waiting turns, and cheering each other on. I am overwhelmed with pride following our Veterans Day assembly. The students did such an amazing job singing, listening, and presenting. They were truly on their best “Owl” behavior! We had a Fun Friday at Oak Ridge! Today’s challenge was to identify twenty mystery pictures from around the building. We started our day with a Fun Friday Phire Drill. We had our monthly fire drill and then once it was completed, we formed a baseball diamond on the playground and sang, ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ in celebration of the Phillies big win last night. Our first Fun Friday activity was a success. We have many well-traveled students! In the end, Mr. Smith’s class won the first classroom Owl with 46 states visited. Five of the books that an elementary student reads in the summer can count toward their goal of reading 25 – 30 books in the next school year. In order to meet the standard for proficient readers, students need to read at least 25 books each year.
