Events Update - March 10th

Hello Oak Ridge Families,

I am following up on the district’s message about events being canceled over the next two weeks.  The two events impacted at Oak Ridge are Thursday Night’s Lip Sync and the Artist’s reception at Indian Valley Public Library.  I know Mrs. Borowski and the students were excited to celebrate the student’s artwork at the reception on Thursday.  That event was a collaborative effort among all the art teachers in the district, so if there is any plan to make it up you will hear from the district.  Either way, the art is on display and you can visit the library anytime if you’d like to see the amazing work our students produce.

I know how excited everyone was for our Lip Sync.  Our Home and School has been working hard to organize a great show and the students have put a lot of time in practicing at home.  Unfortunately, our date and make-up date fall within the window established by the district.  We were also informed today that the high school will not be able to accommodate make-up events beyond the two weeks window.  I am currently looking into dates that may work at Indian Crest Middle School with our Home and School.  We will make everyone aware if we are able to establish a make-up date at Crest.

In addition, Mrs. Buck and I are working on an ‘in-house’ make-up for Reading Olympics.  She is communicating with the MCIU to get access to the materials so that we can offer a smaller version for our students here at school.  Once the details are finalized, Mrs. Buck or I will send the plan to our fourth and fifth grade families.

All other after school activities and clubs (i.e. Wake Up Club, Spanish Club, Girls on the Run, Math Olympiad, etc…) will continue as usual.  Again, the window is just two weeks for now, so any events scheduled beyond that window are currently expected to take place.

Thank you for your continued support!
