Updates and Reminders - February 27, 2026
We ended the last week in February with our monthly Owl Time Assembly. Our second graders were highlighted and did a wonderful job sharing about the presidents and Dr. Suess and singing about reading. It was a nice way to end the month. Here are some additional updates and reminders:
- Next week we will celebrate Read Across America Week. Each year we start the day on Monday by reading quietly as a school in the main hallway. The spirit days for next week can be found below and on the Read Across America Week Flyer:
- Monday, March 2nd- Red, White and Blue Day
- Tuesday, March 3rd- Favorite Hat Day
- Wednesday, March 4th- Silly Socks, Crazy Hair or Mismatch Day
- Thursday, March 5th- Favorite Shirt with Words Day
- Friday, March 6th is an In-Service Day. There is no school for students.
- Each year the district supports the Bean Bag Program, which helps provide food to local families in need. The 100 box challenge runs from Monday, March 9th to Friday, March 27th. You can find more information on the Bean Bag 100 Box Challenge Link.
- Yearbooks are now on sale. Yearbooks are $22, and the sale ends on March 31st. If you want to order a Yearbook, you'll need to order online through this Yearbook Order Link. Thanks!
- Home & School invites you to attend their next meeting at 7:00pm on Tuesday, March 3rd in the Oak Ridge Library. There is an option to attend virtually as well. They will be accepting nominations for H&S leadership positions for the 2026-2027 school year. Hope you can make it.
- As we approach spring, I wanted to reminder everyone that I am unable to excuse trips for students in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade during PSSA testing days. The schedule for the testing days is as follows:
- ELA (3rd, 4th & 5th) April 20th, 21st & 22nd
- Math (3rd, 4th & 5th) April 27th & 28th
- Science (5th) April 29th & 30th
- Here is the latest episode of News From The Nest. I'm sorry if the link doesn't work, we were unable to use the usual process for uploading the video and access has been sporadic. We will send an updated link on Monday in case many can't access.
Thank you for your continued support!
