Updates and Reminders - March 15, 2024

I am very excited to share that Oak Ridge is about to get a Face Lift.  You may have noticed the bricks falling off the ‘front’ side of our building.  In the opening to this week’s News From The Nest I explain to the kids that when we return from break the construction will be under way (weather permitting).  We have begun planning for the impact that the construction will have on specific areas.  I will keep you updated as we go, but have included a few of the important changes below along with the rest of our updates and reminders:

  • The construction should NOT impact our parent pick up and drop off lines other than the implementation of a more defined drop off zone.  The parking lot in front of the cafeteria will be closed as well as it will be used for construction vehicles and materials.
  • Kids Kare will be in the gym starting April 2nd.  Kids Kare parents should drop off and pick up at the gym entrance.
  • Having the construction begin over the break will allow us to monitor if we need to move the cafeteria to the gym as we did during Covid.  This would be temporary (if at all) based on noise. 
  • Progress reports will be live on Home Access Center on Monday, March 18th at 7:00pm.
  • Home and School is having a Pizza Kit Fundraiser!  The kits are $15 each and orders are due by Wednesday, March 20th.  Kits will be available for pick up on Tuesday, March 26th, from 4:30-6:00. 
  • On Thursday, March 21st we will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by rocking our socks!  Students and staff can  wear colorful socks to recognize the day.   
  • Reading Olympics will also be Thursday, March 21st at 6:00pm at the high school. 
  • Next Friday, March 22nd, will be our 3rd grade play, “It’s A Hit!”  We are excited for this year’s group of third graders to bring this fun tradition back to Oak Ridge.
  • Just a reminder that Oak Ridge spirit wear is on sale until Sunday, March 24th.  A flyer was sent home earlier.
  • The 2023-2024 Oak Ridge Yearbook is for sale online only for $16. It is 92 color pages packed with memories! Don't miss out!   Yearbooks can be ordered online. Sales ends April 12th, 2024.
