Updates and Reminders - May 16, 2025

Thank you to everyone who was able to make it out to Open House last night!  It was great to see so many families join us to celebrate the work the students did throughout the year.  It is also always nice to see our former Owls come back with their families.  Here are some additional updates and reminders:

  • The Owls Who Love Speed Running Club is cancelled for today.
  • Next week’s Z-A themed days:
    • Monday- M for Magic and Music Day
    • Tuesday-  No School
    • Wednesday- L for Library Day
    • Thursday- K for Kindness Day
    • Friday- J for Joke Day
  • I wanted to make everyone aware that Mrs. Rothenberger will be retiring at the end of this school year.  Mrs. Rothenberger’s dedication to the district, teaching reading, and to the students and families of Oak Ridge will be sorely missed.  It is very sad news for us, but we wish her a wonderful retirement!
  • A reminder that next Tuesday, May 20th is an In-Service day for teachers.  There is no school for students that day.
  • Monday, May 26th is also a day off for the Memorial Day holiday.
  • Field Day is Friday, May 30th. To help make the day a success, Mr. Kelly and Home & School are in need of volunteers to help run some of the games and stations. Here is the link to SIGN UP.
  • On Friday, May 30th from 8:30-9:30 we will have a Volunteer Breakfast in our teacher’s lounge.  Guests can enter through the cafeteria doors.  This is our way of thanking all the volunteers who contributed towards making it a fantastic year at Oak Ridge. 
  • Home & School is collecting peanut butter and jelly donations to help the Bean Bag Food Program reach their summer goal. If you’d like to donate, there is a box in the lobby that items can be placed in. Donations will be collected through Wednesday, May 21st.
  • The Spring Clothing Drive will be held on Saturday 5/31 from 9am to Noon. Clean out your closets, load it up in trash bags, and drive through our collection event to drop off and help our school raise funds - we earn money for every pound you donate! Please see the Home and School site for flyer & details.
  • Our Spring Flea Market & Bake Sale is coming up on Saturday, 5/31 from 8am to 1pm. Registration will still be open through the weekend if you'd like to join us as a yard-saler! 100% of your registration fee directly benefits Oak Ridge.   • Congratulations to our fifth graders for doing such a great job of presenting their Oral History projects!  They were great role models for our fourth graders who will be presenting their Biography’s next Wednesday, May 21st.
