Updates and Reminders - August 15, 2025

Hopefully your summer has been relaxing and enjoyable.  I am sure the excitement for school to start up is building for everyone.  With just eleven days until we start, I wanted to reach out with some updates and reminders:

  • Home Access Center will be opened Friday, August 15th at 4:00 PM for families to see their child’s teacher for the school year.  You should also receive a welcome back email from your new teacher by early next week.
  • As a parent of three graduates from Souderton, I remember the excitement that surrounded the discovery of their teachers and classmates.  I also remember times when finding out that a best friend was not in their classroom or not getting the teacher they hoped for were disappointing experiences.  I found that preparing my kids for that possibility beforehand and reminding them that they can handle any challenge they face made those experiences easier to manage and our kids more resilient.  Please understand that requests for changes at this time are difficult to accommodate and are rarely approved.  Thanks for your understanding.
  • Kindergarten & New Family Orientation is on Thursday, August 21st at 4:00 pm.  There will be a brief overview of our program in the gym followed by a self-guided tour for new families and a tour of the classrooms for kindergarten families.  We anticipate that the event will be less than an hour. .
  • In addition to previously announced new staff, we are welcoming Mr. Matt Moyer as our Building Facility Manager.  Mr. Moyer comes to us from Indian Valley Middle School.
  • Please mark your calendars for the following events:
    • First Day of School- Tuesday, August 26th
    • Back to School Night- Thursday, August 28th, 6:00-7:30pm
    • No School- Friday, August 29th & Monday September 1st   –Labor Day Holiday
    • Home and School’s Back to School Bash- Friday, September 5th, 5:30-7
    • Picture Day- Thursday, September 11th

I am looking forward to another great school year.  Our mission at Oak Ridge is to Love, Inspire, Foster Independence and Enrich Thinking so that each students has the tools they need to successfully face the challenges of LIFE.  We want our students to love school and become caring and productive citizens.  As always, we appreciate your support and teamwork in this effort.  I want each of you to know that you can reach out to me or anyone on our staff anytime if you have concerns, questions or need help with an issue.  Open communication is the key to a great year!

Enjoy the last days of summer break!
