Updates and Reminders - September 5, 2025

We are looking forward to a great night on the playground with Home and School’s Back to School Bash!  The bash is a great way to celebrate the start of the school year and meet other families and staff.  Here are some additional updates and reminders:

  • As stated above, Home & School is looking forward to celebrating with you at Oakie's Back to School Birthday Bash happening today from 5:30 to 7:30 on the school playground. Don't forget your blankets, chairs, and refillable water bottles. We are still in need of donations to make the event a success. If you would like to volunteer your time or donate an item, please sign up. We will also be collecting school supplies for Oak Ridge. Please consider bringing an item to donate.
     
  • Next week is safety week at Oak Ridge.  During this week we review our fire drill and ALICE drills.  Teachers will be reading the story, I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared, with their classes and then we will practice on Friday.  The following week we will review our safety procedures in the cafeteria. 
     
  • We apologize that some families received an outdated form for Volunteering.  If your child comes home with a new form, can you please fill the new form out and send it back at your earliest convenience. 
     
  • We thrive on your help! Please complete the Home & School Volunteer Interest Form for the 2025-2026 school year to show your interest in potentially helping in our classrooms, during our extra-curricular events, or even behind the scenes with us to prep for things like teacher appreciation or family fun nights. Completing the form is just to show us you are interested in learning more, and is not a commitment. We thank you in advance for your time!
     
  • Each year, Oak Ridge Home & School creates and distributes a Family Directory to make it easier for families to get in touch for things like homework help, party invites, play dates, and more. We encourage you to participate in the 2025-2026 directory by completing the Family Directory Opt-in. Participation is voluntary, and you can include as much or as little contact information as you'd like. A new submission is needed each year as past participation does not carry through. Each family will receive a directory booklet regardless of participation. (Please note, school cannot release contact information for other families to you for any reason, so this book will be your only resource!)
     
  • If you haven't already, please sign up to receive the Home & School Smore Newsletter! Each month, we'll send out a newsletter full of details on upcoming events, links for volunteer signups, recaps on past events, and all kinds of useful updates. This newsletter will be very helpful to you if you aren't on social media, or aren't a member of our Facebook group. It will also be posted monthly on our Web site.
     
  • Our school spirit wear store is now open! Orders placed by September 21st have the option for free delivery to Oak Ridge and will be distributed to your child. Please make sure you select the free pick-up option at checkout. The store is available all year and orders can be placed at any time. Thank you for your support!
