Updates and Reminders - September 12, 2025

We ended our week with our first Owl Time Assemblies.  We have these assemblies each month and use them to celebrate the good things happening in our school.  Some of our fifth grade Wise Owls lead the assembly.  Today we introduced staff, reviewed our safety procedures, and celebrated some early successes.  Here are more updates and reminders:

  • Over the next two weeks the students will be taking their first MAP assessments.  These language arts and math assessments help to provide the teachers with additional information on the students’ progress.  We use MAP to help us identify students who may need additional support or enrichment. 
     
  • Our annual School Directory is an invaluable resource to contact friends and classmates for play dates and homework and so much more. Every year, families contact us with regret for not participating. Don’t get left out! You can include as much or as little information as you’d like. A new submission is needed each year as past participation does not carry through. Sign up by Monday, September 15th to be included on the Family Directory Opt-in Form. 
     
  • Oak Ridge Home & School welcomes you to join us at Dairy Queen on Rt 113 for a support our school event! Stop by on Wednesday, September 17th between 4pm to 7pm and mention Oak Ridge when placing your order and Dairy Queen will donate 20% of the sales back to Home & School. Thank you for your support!
     
  • On Thursday, September 25th, we will host our 5th graders for our first Afterschool Rec of this school year.  Please sign up before Monday, September 22nd on the 5th Grade Fall After School Rec Form.   These events cannot happen without volunteers. Please consider volunteering.  If you have questions about the events, please email ASRec.ORE@gmail.com 
     
  • Our school spirit wear store is now open! Orders placed by September 21st have the option for free delivery to Oak Ridge and will be distributed to your child. Please make sure you select the free pick-up option at checkout. The store is available all year and orders can be placed at any time. Thank you for your support! Oak Ridge Spirit Wear Store
     
  • This will be the last weekend to fill out the Home & School Volunteer Interest Form and to opt into the Directory. Both forms will close on Monday, September 15th. 
     
  • Our November Owl Time Assembly will be our Veterans Day Assembly.  This assembly happens every other year and is intended to honor the veterans in our Oak Ridge Family.  If you have a family member who is in active duty or is a Veteran, please have them mark the calendar for Friday, November 7th at 9:00.  The sign up will be shared in next week's and future emails.
