Updates and Reminders - September 26, 2025
We had a great start to our Flight Time in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Thanks to all our staff for jumping in to run supports and engaging learning opportunities during this time. We use this time to help support students and to encourage students to explore their interests and learn independently through passion projects. Here are some additional updates and reminders:
- Thanks to Home and School and all the parent helpers who helped at today’s Sundae Bar. It was a huge hit with the students.
- The district was able to obtain dehumidifier units for our pods, the gym and the cafeteria which were delivered before lunch today to help with the conditions in the building. With many of the windows still open, they didn't have the opportunity to fully take effect, but they will be running all weekend to try to alleviate the humidity in the building.
- Next Thursday, October 2nd is a day off in observance of Yom Kippur.
- Monday, October 6, 2025, is World Day of Bullying Prevention - on this day we will join students, schools, and communities all over the world by wearing BLUE to go against bullying. Wear your blue shirt on Monday, October 6th.
- 4th grade Afterschool Rec will be on Wednesday, October 1st.
- Mark your calendar for Walk to School Day on October 8th. We meet at the pavilion in Alderfer Park and make our way to the school shortly after 8:00am.
- Picture Retake Day is Thursday, October 9th.
- This year we are also celebrating Veterans Day with our big Veterans Day Assembly on November 7th, at 9:00 am. If you have a Veteran or active-duty member of the armed services, please feel free to invite them to our assembly. The students introduce their special guest, and we teach the students about the various branches. See the Veterans Day Assembly Signup form to sign up guests for the assembly.
- Home & School is looking for outdoor Fall decor, mums, hay bales, and pumpkins to decorate the school entrances. If you have items you would like to donate, please drop them off outside the main entrance or contact Danielle Wichert, at dh1033@yahoo.com.
- Did you travel with Oakie this summer? Submit your photos to Home & School by Monday, September 29th for our ‘Where in the World is Oakie’ bulletin board inside Oak Ridge. All submissions will be entered to win a gift card. Photos can be sent in with students or emailed to OakRidgeHomeandSchool@gmail.com
- Join us for our first Family Fun Night of the year on Wednesday, October 1st at Urban Air from 4p to 8p. Mention Oak Ridge at the counter to receive special event pricing. Snack bar will be open for refreshments and food. Hope to see you there!
