Updates and Reminders - October 17, 2025

We started the day with a Fun Friday Scavenger Hunt that the kids seemed to enjoy.  Congratulations to H7 and L5 for collecting all the items first and earning their class owl.  Here are some additional updates and reminders:

  • Next week is Character Counts Week.  Here are the colors and Character Counts traits for each day of the week:
    • Monday, October 20th - Purple for Citizenship
    • Tuesday, October 21st - Green for Responsibility
    • Wednesday, October 22nd - Gold for Respect
    • Thursday, October 23rd - Blue for Honesty
    • Friday, October 24th - Red for Caring. 
    • Friday is also Hat Day.  Students can wear a hat for a 50 cent donation that goes towards the Character Counts Coalition which works with our community to help keep our students safe and making good choices.
       
  • As you are purchasing or making costumes for our Fall Socials and Parade, please remember no weapons or look alike weapons are allowed on school property.
     
  • Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Each year, the Oak Ridge community fills bags with nonperishable food to help Oak Ridge families in need enjoy their Thanksgiving meal. Please sign up using the Fill-a-Bag Form if you are able to help, thank you for your generosity!
     
  • As I shared earlier in the year, we are trying to build in more fun seasonal challenges this year for students to enjoy.  Please see the Fall Challenges flyer.  Participation is completely voluntary.   
     
  • Our Veterans Day Assembly will be on November 7th, at 9:00 am.  If you would like to honor a Veteran or active-duty member of the armed services, as a special guest or through a video see the Veterans Assembly form to sign them up.
     
  • Home and School's Pampered Chef Fundraiser is now live.  Please share the link below with your family and friends.  All orders are shipped directly to the customer.  Sale ends 10/31!  Thank you for your support! Shopping Link
     
  • Join our Home and School on October 25th from 1:30p to 3:30p for Oak Ridge Elementary School's First Annual Trunk or Treat event! Please register on the Trunk or Treat Signup Genius if you would like to decorate your trunk and hand out candy. Not able to decorate a trunk but still want to help out? Please consider dropping off a bag of candy in the school lobby by Friday, October 24th. 
     
  • Registration is now open for Home & School's Painting with a Purpose event on Tuesday, November 4th from 10am to 12pm. Students will have the opportunity to paint and customize their very own owl.
