Updates and Reminders - December 12, 2025

Winter certainly arrived this past week with some frigid temperatures.  We shorten recess when the “feels like” temp is between 15 and 20 degrees and call indoor recess when it is 15 degrees or below.  Be sure to send the kids in with layers for the cold weather.  Here are some additional updates and reminders:

  • Home & School’s shopping fundraiser at Floral and Hardy is ending on December 14th.  Shop local and help Oak Ridge too!  Please remember to mention Oak Ridge at the register prior to them scanning your first item. 
     
  • Holiday Spirit Week starts on Monday, December 15th with Green Grinch Day and goes till December 23rd.  See the Festive Spirit Week schedule for all the fun days the teachers planned for the students.
     
  • Progress Reports will be sent home and made available online on the afternoon of Monday, December 15th. 
     
  • You should have received a link yesterday for the Education for the Future Survey in your email.  This survey helps us know what things we are doing that parents find valuable and things we may need to improve.  We do review the surveys as a staff in our planning for yearly goals.  We really appreciate your participation in the survey.  Here is a link to the Parent Survey.
     
  • The Winter Concert is 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 17th at Indian Valley Middle School.
     
  • In this Season of Giving, please consider donating to Home & School’s annual Stockings & Mittens Holiday Drive - a tradition that helps Oak Ridge families in need as we share the magic and joy of the holiday season. Each year we seek donations of Gift Cards, money for Utilities, and stockings filled with small gifts for children of various ages. Please see the Stockings & Mittens Holiday Outreach Sign-up Genius if you are interested in donating. All donations are needed at Oak Ridge by Tuesday, December 16th - Additional details are provided on the Sign-Up Genius. Thank you for your generosity this holiday season!
     
  • The Winter Break starts on Wednesday, December 24th and students return to school on Monday, January 5th.
